Horse ownership. You never feel fully prepared when it comes to owning your first horse. There is so much to learn and to understand that you don’t know where to start. Even as an experienced horse owner, there always seems to be something new that crops up nearly every day that you didn’t know before.
I have been around and owned horses for the past 8 years. During this time, I have jumped, backed, trained, been thrown off, kicked, bitten and loved all the horses I have owned and worked with.
I went through a period of time where my job was to back horses and train them to be safe and sensible for new horse owners. They have taught me so much. What makes them tick, how they think, reasons behind behaviour and most importantly what they want you to know and understand about them.
I have seen and continue to see so many horse owners and riders confident with what they know when actually, their knowledge has a serious effect on their performance, their horse’s performance and even as far as their horse’s health and behaviour.
My aim through this website is to teach the new horse owner, the rider, the current horse owner or just the plain curious on how to train your horse. I will cover basic groundwork, jumping, backing and breaking, equipment, feeding and other topics that are all part of bringing on or improving your horse’s health and performance under the saddle and on the ground.
